Dear friend,
I deleted an invoice tonight. $180, from a client who approved her wedding invitations back in May and then went quiet before she paid the balance. Three texts. One email. Then nothing, for four months.
So here is today's letter in one line. I am not writing about the moon because it is pretty. I am writing about it because tonight it gave me a reason to stop chasing $180 I was never going to get.
The moon is three days past full right now, in Taurus, which is the sign that runs the money house in astrology, the one about what you already have and what you are allowed to put down. A waning moon is the half of the month built for letting go, the mirror image of the new moon, which is for starting. I did not know any of that a year ago. I learned it the same place most of you did, scrolling at midnight.
Rent is due in two days. So is my Shopify subscription. I have $180 I am owed and will not collect, and about $1,400 I do have to move around before Thursday. Tonight I dealt with the $180 first, because it was the only number I actually controlled.

WHAT WANING ACTUALLY MEANS
|
|
Here is what a waning moon is actually for. The month splits in two. Two weeks of the moon growing toward full, which is the building half, and two weeks of it shrinking back toward new, which is the letting-go half. Tonight is inside the second half, three days past full, headed toward dark. Every lunar calendar in this audience gets the growing half right and forgets the second one exists.
Taurus makes it specific. Taurus is an earth sign, ruled by Venus, and in a money chart it runs the house of personal resources, what is actually yours, sitting still, not what is coming or what is owed. A waning moon in Taurus is not asking me to start anything new tonight. It is asking me what I am still holding that I already know is not coming back. For me that was $180 and a client's name I still have saved in three places.

THE MATH ON CHASING IT
|
|
Here is the math I actually did before I hit delete. Three texts, one email, and one afternoon four months ago when I redid the proof for free because I thought that would help. Call it two hours total, spread out, at what I charge a real client, which is $45 an hour. That is $90 of my own time spent chasing $180 I do not have yet. Add the $90 I spent to the $180 I am owed, and the honest number is closer to zero than it looks on the invoice.
I used to think deleting it meant giving up. It does not mean that. What it means is I stopped paying twice for the same $180, once in the invoice and once in the hour I keep spending thinking about it.
|
|
If I let it go, I'm admitting I got taken.
Letting it go means I stopped paying for it twice, once in the invoice and once in the hour I keep spending on it.
|
|
A real business would have collected by now.
A real business writes off $180 the same way it writes off a bad month, and keeps going.
|
|
Chasing it is the responsible thing to do.
The responsible thing was already done. Three texts and an email is chasing. Tonight is just closing the file.

THE VAULT
Twelve lines. Take the one that's yours.
| 01 |
I let the moon tell me when to stop. |
| 02 |
Waning means closing, not losing. |
| 03 |
I am done paying for this twice. MOST TAKEN |
| 04 |
Taurus asks what I already have. |
| 05 |
I delete the invoice, not the lesson. |
| 06 |
Some numbers are worth more closed than chased. |
| 07 |
I stopped keeping score on a dead account. |
| 08 |
The building half of the month is over. |
| 09 |
I know what I am still carrying. |
| 10 |
Letting go is not the same as losing. |
| 11 |
I close the tab before I close my eyes. |
| 12 |
Tomorrow starts lighter, whether or not the rent does. |
|

WHAT YOU'RE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE TODAY
|
|
I am not going to tell you to go delete an invoice tonight. That is homework, and this letter does not hand out homework.
Here is what I will say instead. The moon is waning in Taurus tonight, which means the next two weeks are built for closing things, not opening them. If you are carrying a number that is never coming back, a refund you will not get, a client who is not going to pay, a loan to a friend you already know is gone, you are allowed to stop keeping score on it. Not forgive it. Not forget it happened. Just stop spending the hour on it.
Rent is due in two days for both of us, probably. My $180 was never going to cover it either way. Closing the file did not put money in my account tonight. It put back the two hours a month I was spending on a number that was not moving.
You do not have to release anything tonight if nothing is ready. Some things stay open longer than two weeks, and that part is fine too. But if something in your business has been closed for months and you are the only one still keeping the tab, the moon gave you an actual reason tonight, not just an excuse.

Open the door. Expect more. Let it find you. |

Keep the door open,
MONEY MAGNET

P.S. The wedding client, the $180 one, posted her reception photos two weeks ago. The invitations were in three of them, exactly the ones we fought over in May. I did not comment. I still do not know if that means anything.
