Dear friend,
The rent money hit my account at 6:04 this morning. Two thousand ninety dollars, the fifteenth-of-the-month half of what I bring in from the shop and the freelance work combined. I didn't check my phone until 6:40, and when I looked up from it, there was a sliver of moon over the parking lot behind my building, thin enough that I almost missed it.
That sliver is the whole letter. The moon went waxing crescent last night, four days past new, sitting in the sign Scorpio, and it means the money already moving for you is moving where you can't see it yet. So today's letter says one thing. What's building this week doesn't have to be visible to be real.
Four days ago, on September 11, the moon went fully dark - a new moon, the reset point of the month. Nobody felt it as an event. My fifteenth-of-the-month deposit didn't care either; it arrived on schedule. A new moon opens the account. A crescent is the days after, when growth is too small to photograph. Scorpio runs underneath the surface - a bank app checked at 1am, a balance known to the dollar and never said out loud.
The sixty dollars I moved this morning won't show up until I check, and I'm not planning to until Friday.

WHAT'S GROWING IN THE DARK
Here's the part nobody puts in a group chat. Every payday, before anything else, I move sixty dollars out of checking into a savings account with a name nobody's heard: the Scorpio fund, set up during a different Scorpio moon two years ago and never renamed since. Sixty dollars, twice a month, is one thousand four hundred forty dollars a year, and not one dollar of it has ever shown up in a screenshot.
That's the crescent part of money. New moon money is the ask you send in a DM - visible, dated, waiting on a reply. Full moon money is the invoice that finally clears, the one the whole group chat hears about. Crescent money is the sixty dollars that moves before you're fully awake, small enough that nothing seems to have happened.
I don't post about the transfer. I do it again on the first, and again on the fifteenth.

GROWING WITHOUT A WITNESS
I've said before that if money isn't visible, it isn't real - a receipt, a screenshot, a deposit alert on the lock screen. That's not right, and the crescent is proof: nineteen percent of the moon's disk was lit last night, invisible to anyone who didn't look up at 6:40 in a parking lot, and it's still on its way to full whether I watch it or not.
The sentence that's actually wrong is older than any moon talk. It's the one I've repeated since I was twenty-two, working a cash register, watching every dollar leave the moment it arrived. I said it again this morning, out of habit, before I'd had coffee. Here it is, and here's what's replacing it.
"Money doesn't grow unless I watch it every second."
"Money grows in the dark too, four days into a new cycle."
"If I can't see it, it isn't really mine yet."
"The sixty dollars is mine the moment it moves, whether I post it or not."
"Small deposits don't count until they add up to something big."
"One thousand four hundred forty dollars started as sixty dollars, twenty-four separate times."

| 08 | I stop waiting for the full moon version. |
| 09 | I trust the dark month is still working. |
| 10 | I hold a small account nobody has opened. |
| 11 | I give an ordinary Tuesday its due. |
| 12 | I take the deposit and go back to sleep. |

WHAT YOU'RE ALLOWED TO RECEIVE TODAY
There's no task at the end of this letter. I'm not going to tell you to check a balance, move a set amount, or open a savings account named after a zodiac sign, though mine happens to be. The moon doesn't assign homework, and neither does this letter.
What's allowed today is smaller than that. You're allowed to let money grow somewhere you're not looking at it. The deposit that hit your account this morning, or five days ago, or the one still four days from arriving on your usual date, doesn't need your attention every hour to be real. Nineteen percent of the moon was lit last night. The other eighty-one percent didn't stop existing. It just wasn't the part on display.
If you have a hidden account, an old envelope, a jar behind the cereal boxes, a balance you check once and close the app - that's not avoidance. That's the same four days a crescent needs before anyone can see it grow. You don't owe anyone a progress update on money that's still four days old.
Let it stay quiet a little longer. It's allowed.

Open the door. Expect more. Let it find you. |

P.S. I still haven't renamed the Scorpio fund. I tried three names in the banking app last week, none of them fit, and gave up halfway through a fourth. It's still just called that - sixty dollars in, twice a month, no explanation attached to it.
