Dear friend,

So today's letter says one thing. You are allowed to want the ring light you keep closing the tab on. That's it. That's the whole letter. I am not going to tell you to buy it. I am not going to tell you not to. I am going to tell you you're allowed to want it, in a sentence, out loud, with a dollar figure in it.

The reason I know is Tuesday. I added mine to cart again. $42. Natural white, dimmable, the one with the clip for a phone. It had been in that cart since early September. Six weeks. I counted the times I'd opened the cart and closed it. I lost count at twelve. Twelve opens in six weeks is twice a week. Twice a week for about three minutes a session. I timed one. Thirty-six minutes of six-week not-buying.

I bought it. The box arrived this morning. It's by the front door. I haven't opened it yet. I keep walking past it. I wanted to tell you about it first. About what the six weeks were, which was never about the forty-two dollars.

LOA GURUS HAVE NOTHING ON THIS

There’s a woman who infiltrated an Ancient Egyptian Secret Society…

Sounds crazy, right?

I was just on the phone with her before sitting down to this email.

She was still shaken up from the experience.

But here’s the really crazy thing…

Ever since, she started making money everywhere she turned.

She says she’s never seen anything like this…

Even the Law of Attraction has nothing on it.

And it all comes from her catching this frequency on her cellphone when she infiltrated this trillionaire cult…

I was a little shaken myself the first time I listened to it.

Because within minutes…

I’d never felt better.

I come across new opportunities all the time.

And every day, they just fall into my lap.

You need to hear this to believe it.

Oh, and by the way…

If you want to build a following on social media (or in the real world)...

THE SIX WEEKS
IN THE CART

The six weeks weren't about saving up. I had the $42 by week two. I probably had the $42 the first week. The six weeks were a thing I was doing twice a week, three minutes at a time. I would put the ring light in a cart and I would take it back out. The verb I kept using in my head was deciding. That is not what I was doing. I was practicing. I was practicing a thing where I put a small, nameable want into a sentence with a dollar sign in it, and then I crossed the sentence out. Twenty-four times I did that in six weeks. The ring light was not the point. The crossing out was the point. Six weeks of crossing out is a muscle. It gets stronger. By the end of it I was faster at it.

WHAT PERMISSION
DOES

Permission is a different verb than deciding. Permission just says: this want is real, I'm not going to argue with it today, the number is $42, I'm not going to pretend it isn't. Permission doesn't require buying. Permission requires naming.

I'm going to try to be concrete. On Tuesday I said this sentence, out loud, in my kitchen, to nobody: "I want the $42 ring light." I had never said the whole sentence before. I had said parts of it. I had said "I probably don't need," and "it would be nice to have," and "when I have more I'll get it." I had not said I want it, with the price in the same sentence. The sentence took maybe four seconds. The shorter versions of it had taken forty-two days. Here are three of those shorter versions, and the fuller sentences they wanted to be.

"I'll get it after rent clears."
I can want it before rent clears, and still choose later.

"It's $42 I don't have."
It's $42, and the deciding has already cost me more.

"Wanting is for people who already have."
Wanting is how I find out what I'll let in.
THE VAULT
Twelve lines I read when the cart is open.
01I am allowed to want.
02I let the sentence have a dollar amount.
03I say what I want and I mean it. MOST TAKEN
04Wanting it out loud is the whole thing.
05I can afford to notice what I want.
06I close the tab without closing the door.
07I let the number in my mouth.
08I am not asking for the price to drop.
09I spend forty-two dollars without an apology.
10I let the box arrive and I open it.
11I take the thing off the maybe shelf.
12I let myself have what I keep returning to.
WHAT YOU'RE ALLOWED TO
RECEIVE TODAY>

I am not going to tell you to go buy anything. I am not going to tell you to open any cart. I am not going to tell you what the thing you're thinking of should be. Permission is not homework. Permission is not a thing I'm handing you to complete by lunchtime.

You can say the name of the one specific thing you keep closing the tab on. You can say its price. You can put both into the same sentence, in your own mouth, with no one else in the room. That is the permission. The buying is a separate conversation and the buying can wait.

If you've been doing the six-week version, the twice-a-week, three-minutes-a-session, cross-it-back-out thing, this is the day the sentence gets to be whole. The thing is a thing. The number is a number. Both get to live in the same breath. The $42, the $89, the $136, the $18. Whatever your ring light is.

The box on my floor is still unopened. I'm going to open it after I send this.

Open the door. Expect more. Let it find you.

Keep the door open,

MONEY MAGNET

P.S. I opened the box. The ring light is heavier than I expected and the clip is sturdier than the picture made it look. I'm leaving it on the kitchen table unassembled until Monday. I don't know why. I'm not ready to clamp it to anything yet.
